"We had a really big Punk scene here in Iceland. Since then, if you want to do music, there has always been a certain unknown pressure. The artists here need to be different, they need to draw attention by being different. They can’t play the same as everyone else. They need to be doing their own thing. That may be a reason why Icelandic bands and artists aim at being distinct. The Punk scene was the foundation of how the Icelandic music scene functions today.
