"Locals know to skip the Blue Lagoon and check out the swimming pools instead. Laugardalslaug is the biggest public pool, but the smaller Árbæjarlaug is especially nice for children. The nearby countryside has hundreds of them as well, like a brand-new one in Hofsós or a charming one in Strandir, Krossneslaug. Also look for that rare find, a natural pool."
